Responsibilities
- Analyze payroll tax issues and provide recommendations for solutions relating, but not limited to, employee mobility, reciprocal taxation, stock taxation and reporting, inpats and expats, employer-provided fringe benefits, and local taxation.
- Research and resolve tax notices, discrepancies, and employee inquiries with federal, state, and local agencies.
- Manage and maintain records relating to payroll and unemployment tax registration for new states.
- Research W-2 correction inquiries, complete and submit W-2c's for review and approval, and distribute W-2c through appropriate channels.
- Review all Workday tax updates, test accordingly, and communicate key changes.
- Stay current on domestic legislative changes, tax updates, and compliance requirements at federal, state, provincial, and local levels.
- Prepare various tax returns and reporting not filed by third-party tax services, including other required government reporting.
- Prepare complex payroll reports, reconciliations, and analytics for senior management review, identifying trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support audits, prepare documentation, and liaise with auditors to provide requested payroll data and analysis.
- What You Will Need to be Successful:
- Five+ years of Payroll experience with four years' experience specifically in United States payroll tax multi-state tax reporting responsibilities.
- Demonstrated subject matter expertise and understanding of payroll tax principles, tax laws, and year-end reporting requirements.
- A general knowledge of Workday and third-party tax providers such as OSV, and the computation methodologies to determine reasonableness of tax filings prepared and submitted by OSV for federal and state tax withholding calculations.
- FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) are desirable but not required.

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, v-lookups, macros) for report generation and documentation.
