Job Description: The Rehab Admissions Supervisor provides daily operational oversight, management, and leadership for staff of the Admissions Department whose responsibilities include meeting inpatient census goals through design and implementation of referral programs and customer service strategies. Oversees the inpatient admission process. Responsible for meeting all established admission guidelines. The Rehab Admissions Supervisor is responsible to create an environment and culture that enables Frazier Rehab Institute and the UofL Health system to fulfill its mission to by meeting and exceeding established goals, conveying the Frazier mission to all stakeholders and holding staff accountable for performance, motivating staff to improve performance and being responsible for the department operations and continual improvement. The Rehab Admissions Supervisor has knowledge of the post-acute care continuum, clinical cost reduction, utilization management, level of care transitions, population management, marketing, defined quality metrics, continuous performance improvement, appropriate reimbursement. Ensures efficient and professional services designed to meet the needs of the referring partners, patients, personnel, medical staff, students, and the hospital's strategic objectives. Requires payor conditions of participation and reimbursement terms and conditions. Position requires effective continuous collaboration with physicians and all other hospital staff to address daily admission needs. The Rehab Admissions Supervisor continues to serve in a clinical liaison role to ensure admissions targets are achieved. The Supervisor ensures standardization of processes amongst team members to maximize efficiency and identifies and implements resolutions to challenges independently. The Rehab Admissions Supervisor leads by example and facilities orientation and ongoing competency training for the admissions department. Essential Functions: Provides direct supervision to clinical staff and oversight of clerical staff. Delegate responsibilities as appropriate, providing administrative and clinical direction. Provides clinical supervision for provisionally licensed staff, meeting both requirements of the Department and KY Certification and Licensure Board. Creates processes to anticipate and address specific admission situations within the department, including observation, alternate level of care, long stay patients, post-acute resource referral lists, re-admissions, denials, and termination of benefits. Identify improvement opportunities within the department and at the hospital level and create and implement measurable strategies to address them. Maintains and promotes effective working relationships with medical staff and faculty (both internally and externally). Hires and maintains appropriate staffing ratios consistent with the needs of the organization and within budgetary parameters, as well as participate in the development of the department budget. Provides orientation and ongoing education for staff. Sets measurable performance targets and expectations for care coordination team. Collaborates with financial, payer contracting and access services to support acceptable business practices for billing, collection, patient access and denials management along with establishing a similar message to individual payers regarding specific conditions of participation Other Functions: On an annual basis, develops measurable, reasonable and market-oriented goals for the department that reflect those of the hospital and the department. Ensure that the Utilization Management and the Admission Planning process are current. Establish policies, procedures and protocols for departmental functions. Provide department leadership when situation should arise for resolution of conflicts related to admission planning with patients/families, external agencies and payers. Establishes marketing plan to ensure collaboration with third party payers and community agencies supporting smooth transition of patients through the continuum of care.
