About the role

We are looking for motivated Senior Health Scientist Policy Analysts to help drive the NIH mission. Many vacancies are available across the NIH, Office of the Director. In order to qualify for this position in the GS-601 General medical and Healthcare Series, you must have a bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree with a major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of this position. All education, unless completed outside of the U.S., must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the education was completed. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: In addition, in order to qualify at the GS-14 level, you must have at least one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: 1.) Summarizing and explaining health-related (e.g., biomedical) research findings to various audiences (e.g., general public, scientists). 2.) Developing and implementing policies, programs, and procedures to guide health-related (e.g., biomedical) research. 3.) Collaborating with senior-level leadership (e.g., chief scientist, directors) to identify long-term plans for a health-related (e.g., biomedical) research program. 4.) Leading the evaluation of a health-related (e.g., biomedical) research program using qualitative (e.g., content analysis) and quantitative (e.g., regression) methods. 5.) Designing and implementing strategies to improve the effectiveness (e.g., timeliness, goal accomplishment) of a health-related (e.g., biomedical) research program; AND 6.) Leading a team conducting policy analysis on health-related (e.g., biomedical) research topics. You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.
