About the role
Position Overview: The Development Coordinator plays a key support role in Birth Detroit's fundraising team, reporting directly to the Development Director. This role is responsible for administrative duties related to fundraising and development and will gain firsthand experience in strategic planning to increase the capacity of a growing non-profit organization. Additionally, the Development Coordinator will be involved with stewardship activities related to non-profit fundraising and relationship management, including working with a team to create and implement the fundraising, development and communications strategy for Birth Detroit, as well as donor and grant research and tracking. This role is entry level and will serve as the catalyst for a successful career in non-profit fundraising and relationship management for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities: Community Giving Programs Oversee the coordination and growth of Birth Detroit's peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives, including Facebook Birthday Fundraisers and 10/10 Birthday celebration. Work to identify and expand relationships with partners and businesses to develop community-based fundraising. Work with the Development Director to create a strategy to track engagement and donations from community-based and peer-to-peer efforts. Develop outreach materials and toolkits to support community fundraisers. Track campaign performances and utilize the donor database. Donor Stewardship and Coordination Support the Development Director in managing relationships with donors, prospects, and stakeholders. Help coordinate donor cultivation efforts including meetings, tours, and events. Prepare donor acknowledgement letters, thank-you emails, and other stewardship communications. Fundraising Operations Assist in prospect research, identification, and cultivation. Process donations and pledges through the donor management system. Maintain accurate donor and prospect records, track interactions, and ensure timely touchpoints in the donor management system. Work with the grants and operations team to support the administrative duties of Birth Detroit. Communications and Marketing Collaborate with the Development Director and Marketing team on donor-facing materials, such as newsletters and event invitations. Help gather content and assist with the creation of compelling donor stories and impact reports. Represent Birth Detroit at community events, networking opportunities, and fundraising activities as needed. Assist with post-event donor follow-ups and reporting. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or 2-4 years of relevant work experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, or administration. Self-starter with a collaborative mindset and a commitment to equity and social justice.
