Job Description Summary Job Description Aerospace Tig Welder 3rd Shift Working at our Beavercreek Site : GE Aerospace operations have been part of the Beavercreek community for over 70 years! Our Beavercreek facility manufactures gas turbine tubes, ducts, and manifolds, and also has complex machining, fabrication and investment casting capabilities. Product engineering, new product development and testing is performed on site. This facility also does repair and overhaul of tubes, ducts, and manifolds. We have been awarded OSHAS's highest safety rating. Role Overview: Welds together metal components as specified by layout, blueprints, diagrams, or manufacturing operations sheet (MOS), using Tig welding equipment. Connects cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse as specified. Starts power supply to produce electric current. Manually guides torch along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle. Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions. Examines weld for bead size and other specifications. Manually applies filler rod to supply weld metal. Cleans weld joint or workpiece. Prepares rework parts for welding. Positions or clamps workpieces together or assembles them in a jig or fixture. May tack assemblies together. Will use a computer daily (checking email, viewing/downloading shop drawings and instructions) The Ideal Candidate: Will have the ability to perform the following: Subtract, multiply and divide fractions, decimals and whole numbers Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or graphic form Apply learning and experience to deal with variables within specifications Read safety rules in the use and maintenance of shop equipment. Read related technical material and apply principles to daily operations (this includes reading and interpreting blueprints). Accurately read and complete forms Complete the Elano welding vision test (as a new hire and annually) Use standards shop measuring devices (calipers and micrometers) Required Qualifications: High School diploma or GED Successful completion of a TIG Welding Training Course (formal program) Or previous experience as a TIG welder with 6 months experience Successful completion of the Unison-Dayton TIG Welding Assessment This role may encounter high risk or hazardous operations and/or include working shifts beyond a standard workweek. As such, a requirement of the role is to be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.
