Responsibilities
- Demonstrates complete knowledge and proficiency in the use of MRI units, radiology supported computer systems and CD burners.
- Performs MRI procedures and quality control as defined by departmental protocols.
- Performs MRI safety screenings for patients and researches implanted devices prior to scanning.
- Maintains compliance with local, state, and federal regulations in ACR and state licenses. Complies with Joint Commission regulations.
- Completes all technical assigned imaging and non-imaging procedures in the designated scheduled times.
- Enters accurate patient study information into the clinical care systems.
- Assist with the coordination of workflow and patient care activities.
- Obtain clinical history regarding reason for examination and obtains appropriate consent.
- Verifies insurance pre-authorization as defined by departmental protocols prior to scanning patient.
- Maintains patient confidentially.
- Uses 2 patient identifiers at all times.
- Demonstrates ability to obtain IV access.
- Ability to assess patient for adverse reactions and/or changes in patient status.
- Demonstrates complete knowledge and proficiency in the use of contrast media injectors.
- Demonstrates knowledge and ability to perform i-STAT testing and accurate calculation of GFR following established departmental policies and procedures.
- EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of ARRT registry in radiologic technology required (two-year accredited program).
- Completion of ARRT registry in MRI required (achieved within two years of hire).
- State Licensure on Radiation Protection is required.
- Completion of formal and/or on the job training on cross sectional anatomy.
- An Associate's degree is required; candidates are required to obtain their Associates of Science degree (can be substituted within a related field), within three (3) years of their start date as outlined in the Education Agreement required to be signed as a condition of employment.
- Certification in CPR.
- Yearly PEEPS certification required for proper and safe positioning and transfer of patients.
- SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- State Licensure on Radiation Protection is required.
- The successful completion of the MRI Registry exam is a job requirement. A technologist, who is recruited and non-certified, will have a grace period of 2 years following hire to pass this exam.
- Completion of IV training course.
- This position pays between $37.38 and $51.40 based on relevant experience.
