About the role
The Janitor is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in assigned areas, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for associates, contractors, visitors, and other third parties onsite. Responsibilities
- Perform general facility maintenance, including minor repairs, painting, wall patching, and fixture replacement.
- Maintain and repair plumbing systems by inspecting facility areas and quickly resolving issues such as leaks, clogs, and worn components.
- Manage facility waste operations, including coordinating garbage removal, monitoring trash compactors, and arranging service or pickups as needed to ensure proper waste handling.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized waste disposal and compactor areas.
- Perform basic groundskeeping duties, including mowing, manual weed removal, and applying approved herbicides as needed.
- Ensure exterior areas of the facility are maintained in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
- Repair and maintain building components such as doors, locks, handles, and other non-electrical systems.
- Replace ceiling tiles, air filters, and other general facility components as required.
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner.
- Safely operate facility and maintenance equipment, including forklifts (tow motors), floor scrubbers, floor sweepers, scissor lifts, man lifts, company vehicles, lawn mowers, and weed trimmers.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures while performing assigned duties.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the EHS & Facilities Manager.
- Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience in facility maintenance, plumbing, or building maintenance preferred.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing systems and repair.
- Ability to operate powered industrial equipment or obtain certification.
- Strong attention to safety and detail.
- Ability to work independently and follow direction.
- Special Skills
- Self-motivated with strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic issues.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively to meet daily goals.
- Commitment to following all safety rules and regulations.
- Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or related methodologies.
- Experience with visual management systems and workplace organization.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards
