Job Profile Summary Provide welding support as part of the maintenance crew including but not limited to: Welding and fitting tasks associated with the maintenance/construction of a steel pipeline system in accordance with applicable codes. Performing general labor activities including: driving commercial vehicles, operating equipment, damage prevention, and maintenance and repair of pipeline and facility assets. Includes certain administrative functions associated with this position. Potential Travel Requirements: 26-75% Essential Functions and Responsibilities Utilize oxyacetylene and electric welding equipment in construction and maintenance of pipelines, pumping equipment, above ground storage tanks, etc Ability to read blueprints and fabricate accordingly. Demonstrate ability to accurately and safely complete tasks according to the Company Operator Qualification (OQ) Plan and System Integrity Plan (SIP). Operate medium-weight duty to full-sized trucks; load and unload materials; operate boom, winch, vacuum trailer, and other truck auxiliary equipment. Provide labor and/or inspection support on various pipeline and facility maintenance projects. Perform Damage Prevention acivities including but not limited to line locating and ROW (RIght of Way) Marking Provide assistance to other crew members, welders, or technicians as needed. Ability to quickly adapt to changing circumstances and the ability to perform tasks in various environmental conditions. Responsibilities may include Department of Transportation (DOT) covered functions, including operations, maintenance, or emergency response on a pipeline. Job duties also require the employee to be alert and respond immediately to dangerous or hazardous conditions, and where impaired performance, or failure to follow safety precautions, could result in serious injury or property damage. Education H.S. Diploma required Work Experience 1 - 2 years related work experience preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to: communicate effectively orally and in writing in English Ability to: communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, internal and external customers Ability to: work in stressful and changing environmental conditions Ability to: work under time pressure, tight deadlines and interruptions Ability to: use a personal computer with the Windows® operating system to complete time sheets, send and receive e-mail, and access information posted on the Company's intranet Ability to operate a multi-line phone system. Ability to: follow instructions or standard procedures Ability to: compile and/or examine information and select the best action from defined alternatives Ability to: organize and/or analyze information and identify solutions from a range of alternatives Licenses and Certifications Must pass test based on API 1104, Standard for Welding pipelines and related facilities, and ASME Section IX, Recommended Pipeline Maintenance Practices within 30 Days required Obtain a Department of Transportation CDL license with HazMat endorsement regarding truck drivers within 60 Days required Exhibit safe working habits and develop a working knowledge of company's procedures within 120 Days required Current API certifications and CDL preferred Must be qualified in specific tasks according to the Company's Operator Qualification (OQ) Plan required Strength Factor Rating - Physical Demands/Requirements Very Heavy Work - Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
