About the role

We're looking for an exceptional Senior Risk & Compliance Lead with strong compliance experience and exposure to risk management, or a background spanning both disciplines, to join our First Line Risk & Compliance Team. If you're motivated by purpose and keen to make a meaningful impact, this is a unique opportunity to join a values-led organisation where your expertise will help strengthen compliance, support effective risk management, and shape a positive risk culture across the business. This role combines strategic oversight of the risk framework with hands-on partnership that helps teams understand and meet their responsibilities. About QBE At QBE, we get to the heart of what matters for our customers. And we do it all with a human touch. We're an international insurer with more than 13,000 people working across 26 countries - which means we're big enough for your ambitions, yet small enough for you to make a real impact. It's an exciting time. We're building momentum towards our vision to become the most consistent and innovative risk partner. What if you could have a positive impact - at work and in the world? As part of the QBE team, you'll get to spend every day working with people who are passionate, talented and kind. Your new role You'll be part of a supportive team that values diverse perspectives and works together to deliver meaningful outcomes. The role sits within the Pacific Risk & Compliance Team and works cross-functionally with other Senior Leads to strengthen business understanding, uplift risk maturity, and support consistent risk and compliance practices. You'll partner with specific Business Units as a trusted advisor to General Managers and their teams. Success in this role will come from building strong relationships, influencing with credibility, and taking an enable-not-enforce approach to finding practical solutions. You'll lead the implementation of our Group Risk Management Framework within your assigned portfolios, providing first line oversight, expert guidance, and proactive support. You'll contribute to strategic and operational outcomes by: Partnering with Business Unit leaders to embed compliant, risk-informed decision-making into strategy, initiatives, and projects, while providing practical advice on governance, policy, and risk matters. Supporting leaders and teams to understand their responsibilities, build capability, and strengthen risk culture through training, engagement, and relationship-led partnering. Leading the development and continuous improvement of Risk Control Self-Assessments and supporting the effective operation of the risk strategy and framework. Monitoring key risk indicators, appetite, and emerging issues, and working creatively with stakeholders to identify practical solutions. Collaborating with other Senior Leads to drive consistency across the Pacific portfolio and deliver strong business outcomes. About you You'll bring strong compliance experience, along with exposure to risk management or a broader background across both areas. Experience working across complex business environments, including multi-jurisdictional settings, will be highly regarded. We're looking for someone with sound judgement, curiosity, and a highly collaborative style. You'll be a strong relationship builder who can influence with credibility, take a practical and creative approach to problem-solving, and balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. You'll ideally have: Experience in compliance, risk management, governance, or regulatory advisory roles, with compliance expertise strongly preferred. The ability to build trusted relationships and partner effectively with stakeholders across the business. A practical, solutions-focused mindset and the confidence to enable progress while maintaining strong standards. Experience improving capability, supporting accountability, and contributing to a strong risk and compliance culture.
