About the role
Job Title: Commercial Finance Assistant Location: No fixed Place of Work - Edinburgh upto £35,000 per annum 40hrs / 5 over 7days Job Introduction We're looking for a commercially minded and detail-driven Finance professional to join our team as a Commercial Finance Assistant . This is a hands-on, operational role where you'll play a key part in supporting financial performance across a portfolio of prestigious heritage venues in Scotland. Working closely with the Finance Manager and operational teams, you'll help deliver accurate financial reporting, maintain robust financial controls, and provide insight that drives better commercial decision-making. Responsibilities
- Ensure all purchasing procedures are adhered to and according to company policies.
- E-ProphIT management and making sure invoices are traded correctly and timely.
- Monitor expenditure in line with budget and forecast by maintaining a controlled and concise procedure through a PO log to ensure there are no overspends. Consistently communicate over expenditure to the site GM and heads of departments.
- Work closely with Sales team to ensure all events are invoiced & paid in a timely manner, and that events and all associated payments are recorded and tracked for balancing at month end. Trade, bank and account for all events revenues through E-ProphIT and SAP.
- Help in getting debt collected in a timely manner by ensuring all events are billed correctly and maintain internal and external relationships whilst doing so.
- Assist in preparing and producing the monthly accounts, ensuring all revenues are accounted for by balancing sales back to the Priava system and preparing accruals and pre-payments to capture all costs are traded in the correct period.

- What You Bring:
- Essential
- Strong Excel skills, including the ability to perform variance analysis
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage high volumes of data
- Proactive and commercially aware, with a willingness to challenge and improve processes
- Experience working with both internal and external stakeholders
- Willingness to travel across multiple sites as required
- Desirable
- Experience or understanding of management accounts, budgeting, and forecasting
- Familiarity with finance systems such as SAP, E-ProphIT, Priava, or similar
- Experience in a retail, hospitality, or cash-based environment
- Part-qualified (ACCA/CIMA) or working towards qualification
