Fellowship Overview Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is pleased to offer a Pediatric Psychiatry Subspecialty Track within our accredited Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship Program. This 12-month post-graduate training program begins October 19, 2026 and is designed for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) who wish to develop expertise in caring for children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer and blood disorders. The fellowship provides structured clinical training, mentorship, and didactic education to support the transition to specialty practice. Fellows will gain experience addressing the complex psychiatric, emotional, behavioral, and psychosocial needs of pediatric oncology patients and their families while working within a highly collaborative interdisciplinary oncology care team. The program is open to newly graduated APPs as well as experienced APPs seeking specialized training in pediatric psycho-oncology. Important Dates Fellowship Start Date: October 19, 2026 Fellowship End Date: October 2, 2027 Fellow Clinical Responsibilities Will Include Conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations Assessing emotional, behavioral, developmental, and psychosocial concerns in pediatric oncology patients Formulating psychiatric diagnoses and treatment plans Prescribing and managing psychiatric medications under supervision and mentorship Providing supportive counseling and psychoeducation to patients and families Responding to psychiatric emergency situations and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety Collaborating closely with pediatric oncology, psychiatry, psychology, social work, child life, nursing, supportive care, and other interdisciplinary team members Participating in care coordination and family-centered treatment planning Monitoring patient response to treatment and adjusting plans accordingly Maintaining accurate and complete clinical documentation Participating in didactic learning experiences, quality improvement projects, case presentations, journal clubs, and scholarly activities Work Hours Fellows may be asked to work occasional nights, weekends, and holidays based on clinical and educational needs. The average work week is approximately 50 hours and includes both clinical learning and protected didactic time. Key Qualifications Applicants must: Be graduates of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program in the United States Hold board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or NCCPA certification for Physician Assistants Possess active New York State NP or PA licensure Demonstrate a strong interest in working with pediatric and adolescent patient populations Be eligible for prescriptive privileges in New York State Fellowship Stipend $100,000
