About the role
1. Position Summary The Purchasing Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all procurement activities for Azen Manufacturing Pte Ltd. This role ensures the timely sourcing and supply of raw materials, components, packaging materials, tooling, machinery spare parts, and indirect supplies required for the manufacturing of mechanical ventilation fans. The Purchasing Manager will develop strategic supplier partnerships, negotiate favourable commercial terms, control procurement costs, maintain inventory efficiency, and support the company's production and business objectives. 2. Key Responsibilities Sourcing & Procurement - Develop and implement purchasing strategies to support business & production requirements. - Source, Evaluate, Qualify and Negotiate with New Local and Overseas suppliers for raw materials, electrical components, motors, sheet metal parts, fasteners, packaging materials, and other manufacturing requirements. - Issue Purchase Orders (POs) to Suppliers and ensure compliance with company procurement policies. - Monitor market trends, material costs, and supply risks to ensure competitive purchasing practices. Supplier Management - Establish partnerships and maintain strong relationships with approved suppliers and vendors. - Resolve supplier-related issues including quality defects, delivery delays, and commercial disputes. - Coordinate supplier audits and assessments when necessary. Cost Management - Analyse procurement spending and identify opportunities for consolidation and efficiency improvements. - Prepare and manage procurement budgets. - Achieve annual procurement cost reduction targets. - Conduct cost-saving initiatives through supplier collaboration. Inventory & Material Planning - Work closely with Production and Engineering to forecast material requirements to ensure adequate inventory levels / avoid production interruptions / minimizing excess and obsolete stock. Reporting & Administration - Prepare procurement reports, supplier performance reports, cost savings reports, and inventory analyses. - Monitor procurement KPIs and recommend continuous improvement initiatives. - Maintain accurate supplier databases and procurement records. - Lead and develop procurement team members where applicable. 3. Qualifications & Experience - Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field. - Minimum 5 years of purchasing/procurement experience, preferably in manufacturing environments. - Experience in sourcing mechanical, electrical, or industrial components is preferred. - Strong negotiation, analytical, and supplier management skills.
