Join Our AoPS Academy as a Senior Instructor! The AoPS Academy Senior Instructor - Math at our Cambridge campus is an instructor who teaches a full course load during both the Academic Year and Summer sessions. While this role will primarily teach math classes, current instructors who are interested in teaching both math and language arts classes are welcome to apply. This role is a full-time, year-round position which includes the academic year and summer. This role reports to the Campus Director. The Senior Instructor is responsible for managing all of the administrative tasks, student and family support, and grading associated with their assigned classes. Additionally, the Senior Instructor will provide support more broadly for the campus by helping other instructors and directors with their grading as needed, designing and running content-specific in-reach and outreach workshops, and modeling expert teaching practices for other instructors through class observations and professional development sessions. During Academy breaks, the Senior Instructor will assist with grading (post-Academic Year), family meetings, on-site assessments, and open houses, as well as create Professional Development trainings, create and manage in-reach / outreach events, and other duties as assigned. The Senior Instructor - Math will: Teach the AoPS curriculum in dynamic, participation-oriented classes, actively engaging students and expertly managing the classroom. Manage all grading and administrative tasks for their assigned classes. Support the grading needs of other instructors and directors as needed. Hold regular office hours for students in their assigned classes. Meet with students and families from their assigned classes to conduct various on-demand support meetings (e.g. behavioral, academic, advisory, etc.). Participate in teacher training and mentoring by allowing other teachers to observe their classes to model best teaching practices and assisting the Directors with subsequent teacher training conversations. Assist Directors with planning and facilitating professional development sessions. Create and implement content-specific in-reach / outreach workshops for current and prospective students. Contribute to course feedback and discussions centered around potential curriculum improvements. The ideal candidate has: Bachelor's degree required, strongly preferred to be in education or a field closely related to their subject area Advanced degree related to subject area preferred Strong content knowledge in their subject area At least 2 years of prior K-12 teaching experience or at least 1 year teaching experience with AoPS Academy Work Schedule AoPS Academy is an after-school program; most of our classes and operational responsibilities occur during the evenings and on weekends. As such, it's expected that staff work a nontraditional schedule during the school year. Summer hours typically shift to a more standard Monday to Friday work schedule.
