This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the manufacturing function. This position will report to the Operations Manager. The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: Accountable for ensuring safe and environmentally compliant packaging of liquid and powder products manufactured on-site. All product packaging and drumming operations are to be performed to meet or exceed the quality expectations of our customers. Comply with all plant safety rules and report all incidents issues and events to immediate supervision for corrective action. Work with the Production First Line Leaders and other plant support personnel to productively package liquid and powder products for our customers. Perform product packaging and drumming activities for all liquid and powder products ensuring that customer specifications are met or exceeded. Perform waste handling duties (i.e., filling, labeling, and storing) associated with waste materials. Prepare all containers for staging and labeling. Take samples or re-samples of powder and liquids as required to ensure product quality. Stage empty containers. Regularly clean up powder rooms, drumming lines and warehouse areas and maintain satisfactory housekeeping standards at all times. Prepare all drumming equipment for maintenance as may be required. Attend all departmental safety, health and environmental (SHE) meetings and actively support & participate in safety and spill prevention. Actively participate in all Process Improvement initiatives. Comply with all Ashland and Calvert City plant policies, procedures & practices applicable to the Production Department. Participate in various company and regulatory training designed to improve plant processes and/or increase unit production. Participate in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs. Perform routine material handling. Perform tank inspections, as required. Perform any other related duties as assigned. In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following: High School Degree or equivalent required. The incumbent must possess a high level of mechanical aptitude, be an effective team member, communicator, possess basic computer competencies, and be capable & willing of working rotating shift, holidays, and overtime, as may be required. Individuals in this position must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment to work within the manufacturing process area including hard hat, goggles, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, and other equipment as required by the work being performed and location in which the work is being done. Must be capable of evacuating the manufacturing process areas in a timely manner should an emergency arise. Other physical requirements for this position include: Walking, bending, reaching, and climbing to perform basic duties. Bending and stooping while checking pumps, valves, motors, etc. Moving pallets of containers with hand truck. Filling, moving, and sealing containers of liquids and powders up to 550 lbs. each. Climbing on and off and safely operating a powered industrial truck (forklift). Maneuvering and rolling up to 550 lb. containers. Climbing storage tanks and checking for problems and getting equipment ready for maintenance. The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit : Chemical Operator certificate or degree is preferred. Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
