About the role
The Litigation Lead is a senior leadership position within the Legal & Policy function, responsible for owning and directing the company's global litigation portfolio. Develop and own a cohesive global litigation strategy aligned with business priorities, risk appetite, and long-term reputational considerations. Establish and manage a litigation tracking and reporting framework, providing the GC and relevant executive stakeholders with decision-ready portfolio updates. Drive early dispute resolution and alternative dispute resolution strategies where appropriate, balancing cost, risk, and relationship considerations. Design and implement workstream governance frameworks for high-priority or complex multi-jurisdictional matters, ensuring parallel workstreams are coordinated and dependencies are managed. Partner closely with other teams to ensure early identification and containment of litigation risk. Collaborate with the Regulatory Policy function on matters that sit at the intersection of active litigation and regulatory engagement, ensuring aligned external messaging. Line-manage and develop any in-house litigation counsel or paralegals within the team; foster a high-performance, inclusive culture. Build the team's knowledge base and institutional memory: develop playbooks, precedents, and lessons-learned frameworks across key litigation types. Champion legal technology and AI-assisted tooling as a means of improving efficiency and quality in litigation management. Demonstrated track record managing complex, high-stakes litigation, preferably in multi-jurisdictional. Proven ability to manage large, concurrent matters simultaneously, with strong personal organisation and attention to escalation signals. Exceptional stakeholder management skills: able to advise and influence at C-suite and board level, across legal and non-legal audiences. Track record of managing outside counsel to measurable outcomes on quality, cost, and strategic alignment.
