Responsibilities

  • Abiding by departmental, LVPG and LVHN rules and regulations
  • The physician will be responsible to the Medical Director and Assistant Medical Director of Urgent Care, for administrative and clinical matters of the medical practice, subject to the bylaws, rules and regulations, and policies of the Medical Staff of the Hospital.
  • The current clinical session expectation for a 1.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) physician working in JeffExpress Urgent Care is 1,728 hours per fiscal year. The clinical session expectation is prorated for part-time physicians, according to their FTE.
  • Clinical work in JeffExpress Urgent Care includes direct patient care on weekends and holidays.
  • Serving as the supervising physician for physician assistants (PAs) and as the collaborating physician for certified registered nurse practitioners (CRNPs) practicing in the center, in accordance with Commonwealth of Pennsylvania law and LVPG and LVHN policy.
  • Reviewing and cosigning physician assistant (PA) documentation as required by Commonwealth of Pennsylvania regulations and the applicable written supervisory/collaborative agreements. In accordance with current Pennsylvania regulations, certified registered nurse practitioner (CRNP) documentation does not require physician cosignature; collaboration is maintained through the written collaborative agreement.
  • Supervising and educating medical trainees and other learners, which may include medical students, advanced practice clinicians, and residents/fellows, and complete any associated administrative tasks, unless otherwise determine by the Department Chair or their designee.
  • Participating in the department's quality assurance and quality improvement (QA/QI) program, including chart review, peer review, and performance improvement activities as assigned.
  • Assuming laboratory director responsibilities for the center's point-of-care and waived laboratory testing as assigned, including oversight of testing personnel, quality control, and compliance with applicable CLIA and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited allopathic (Doctor of Medicine, MD) or osteopathic (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, DO) medical school
  • Successful completion of an accredited residency program
  • Board certified or board eligible in an appropriate specialty (for example, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Internal Medicine)
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine and surgery in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • Active, unrestricted federal DEA registration
  • Duties Include:
  • Full-time clinical practice as assigned
  • Non-clinical duties as assigned by the Chair and/or the Assistant Medical Director and can include meetings, grand rounds, committees, task force and special project participation.
