Timber

Responsibilities

• Receive, unload, and stack logs and timber products safely.
• Operate machinery such as saws, forklifts, planers, and grading equipment.
• Measure, cut, and shape timber according to specifications and orders.
• Sort and grade timber by size, species, and quality standards.
• Prepare timber for shipment, including bundling, labeling, and loading.
• Maintain equipment and tools, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards.
• Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.
• Assist with stock control and recordkeeping as needed.
• Qualifications and Skills
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior experience in a timber yard, sawmill, or construction environment is an asset.
• Ability to operate or learn to operate timber-handling machinery and tools.
• Strong physical fitness - able to lift and move heavy materials safely.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Working Conditions
• Work performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Exposure to noise, dust, and moving machinery.
• Requires wearing personal protective equipment (e.g., gloves, boots, hearing protection).
• May involve early starts or shift work, depending on production schedules.
