About the role
We are seeking a proficient switch mode power supply design Engineer with strong expertise in power electronics, magnetic component design, and ANSYS Maxwell-based electromagnetic simulations. The domain will be development of onboard charger and DCDC for electric vehicles.The role involves full-cycle development of power converters, including modeling, simulation, prototyping, and validation.Design AC-DC (11kW) and DC-DC SMPS (5kW) topologies such as Flyback, LLC, Buck/Boost, and PFC.Perform power-stage calculations, device selection, control-loop design, and thermal/derating analysis.Ensure efficient, reliable, and robust converter operation.Proficiency in working with high Voltage (400V/800V) and high current(200A) applications.Design transformers, inductors, chokes, and custom magnetic components.Conduct ANSYS Maxwell or CST or COMSOL 2D/3D simulations, for magnetic fields, core & copper losses, parasitic extraction.Perform skin effect and proximity effect loss analysis in windings.Optimize magnetic components for performance, thermal behavior, and size.Perform circuit simulations using LTspice, PSIM, PSpice, or MATLAB/Simulink.Build and evaluate hardware prototypes for efficiency, transient response, switching behavior, and thermal characteristics.Hands-on lab experience including oscilloscope measurements, power analyzers, LCR meters, and thermal imaging.Perform debugging, root-cause analysis, and iterative design refinement.Ensure compliance with IEC/UL/CISPR/automotive standards as applicable.Prepare schematics, BOMs, design reports, test plans, and validation documentation.
