Responsibilities
- Promotes accurate, timely, and effective communication within the unit.
- Greets, assists, and directs patients, visitors, and staff in a courteous and professional manner.
- Answers telephones , relays information, and accurately transcribes and processes physician orders.
- Utilizes electronic systems and unit resources to support patient care and departmental operations.
- Prioritizes and performs multiple tasks to meet changing patient and unit needs.
- Coordinates and processes documentation related to patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Maintains accurate patient census, bed status reports, and locator boards.
- Assembles, updates, and organizes patient charts, records, and required forms.
- Ensures medical records are complete, accurate, and properly organized at discharge.
- Transports specimens to the laboratory and retrieves blood and blood products from the blood bank as needed.
- Maintains unit office supplies and equipment inventory.
- Assists with the orientation and training of new personnel in clerical and unit support functions.
- Supports a clean, organized, and efficient unit environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional specialized training in clinical medical procedures and patient care preferred.
