Job Description Job Overview The Maintenance Electrician plays a critical role in ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. This position is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on production and facility electrical systems, troubleshooting electrical components, PLCs, motors, drives, and related control systems, and supporting production teams during equipment downtime. The role requires maintaining high standards of work quality, adhering to safety and compliance policies, and documenting maintenance activities accurately. Electricians must have strong technical knowledge of electrical systems (including PLCs), motors, drives, and plant utility systems, with a working understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems. They should demonstrate excellent troubleshooting skills, the ability to work independently, and effective communication regarding equipment issues. Physical demands include lifting up to 80 lbs., frequent bending and climbing, and working in a manufacturing environment with loud noise levels. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is always required. Accountabilities Electrical Systems Maintenance & Reliability - Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems, control panels, PLCs, motors, drives, and related components to ensure safe and efficient operations. Troubleshoot electrical issues and diagnose faults in wiring, circuits, and control systems to minimize downtime. Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (e.g., AIMS/SAP) to create and complete work orders, document corrective actions, and track labor and material costs. Compliance & Safety - Adherence to Amcor Safety Standards and food safety standards (GMP, HACCP, ISO, QMS, QSI). Use of required PPE and follow safe work practices in all tasks. Adherence to plant and department specific safety requirements including use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), safe operating procedures, including compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and others to protect self and others. Report injuries, near misses, and property damage incidents immediately to Maintenance Team Lead or Maintenance Manager. Operational Support - Respond promptly to electrical-related equipment downtime and assist production teams in restoring operations. Maintain plant utility systems related to electrical contribution and controls. Documentation & Communication - Accurate record maintenance activities and work orders in a timely manner. Communicate electrical issues and potential downtime to Maintenance Lead or Maintenance Manager and relevant stakeholders. Housekeeping & Facility Care - Keep electrical work areas clean and organized. Perform additional facility tasks as needed, such as snow removal, when trained and authorized. Continuous Improvement - Identify opportunities to improve electrical system reliability and maintenance processes. Stay current with technical knowledge, electrical codes, and training requirements. Qualifications and Requirements Preferred: Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology or related field. Experience: Two (2) or more years of industrial electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including PLC controls, motors and drives, and control panels. Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment and control systems independently. Familiarity with electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC), safe work practices, and compliance with LOTO procedures. Basic understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems for integrated equipment support. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Behaviors Knowledge: Electrical systems, including PLC controls, motors, drives, and control panels. Industrial wiring, circuits, and electrical distribution systems. Electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC) and safe work practices. Preventive and corrective maintenance for electrical equipment and control systems. Basic understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems for integrated equipment support. Safety standards and compliance requirements (GMP, HACCP, ISO, QMS, QSI). Skills: Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for electrical systems and control circuits. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Proficient in repairing and maintaining electrical equipment, PLCs, and drives. Competence in using CMMS tools (e.g., AIMS/SAP) for documentation and work order management. Strong time management to prioritize tasks under pressure. Abilities: Work independently with minimal supervision. Adapt to changing priorities and respond quickly to electrical-related downtime. Lift up to 80 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks (bending, climbing, kneeling). Operate specialized electrical testing safely. Maintenance focus in loud and fast-paced environments.
