About the role

The Steam Fitter installs, assembles, repairs, and maintains piping systems that carry high-pressure gases, liquids, and steam at the CMI customer site in Beltsville, MD. Key Job Functions Fabricate and assemble piping systems using various joining methods, such as brazing, soldering, threading, and welding. Install and repair heavy mechanical components like boilers, valves, pumps, compressors, and regulators. Analyze technical drawings and schematics to plan layouts, determine material costs, and build according to exact engineering specifications. Conduct pressure and leak testing on pipes to ensure they can withstand high-stress environments and meet safety codes. Performs other steam fitter related duties as required High School Diploma or Equivalent At least 3 years of Steam Fitting experience within a government facility Must have expertise in steam f itting and be able to perform maintenance on steam systems. Proficiency in joining metals (especially steel and copper) and using trade tools like saws, benders, and threaders. Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to make precise measurements and calculations. Ability to lift heavy pipes, climb ladders, and maneuver in tight, hot, or uncomfortable environments.
