About the role
We are seeking a Structural Engineer to join our team supporting the Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) at their Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL) ! This position is full-time and will be based out of Niskayuna, NY with 20% hybrid flexibility. THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION!
Responsibilities
- Work within a project team environment to support construction projects at the Knolls Site.
- Develop and define project scope with sponsors.
- Work with a project team to develop specifications, cost estimates, drawing reviews, and provide engineering support during construction phase for buildings and utility projects.
- Oversee architectural engineering firms in developing concept designs, construction documents, and cost estimates.
- Coordinate and interact with facility staff and contractors.
Requirements
- Education & Years of Experience - Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering and 5 to 10+ years of relevant experience. 5 years experience for level II and 10+ for level III.
- Citizenship - To be considered, you MUST be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
- Clearance - To be considered, you MUST be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance before you can start .
- Candidates with an active DOE "L" Clearance or DOD "Secret" clearance are HIGHLY DESIRED.
- Experience performing structural engineering tasks including the development of contract documents, calculations, and cost estimates.
- Working knowledge of building codes and standards.
- Experience in construction administration (submittal review, RFI's, construction inspections, etc.).
- EIT certificate and or P.E. License.
- Engineering consulting experience.
- Working knowledge of NYS
- Building Codes, AISC, ASCE
