About the role

The Bread Factory is the UK's leading artisan bakery. Founded by Gail Meija in 1993, The Bread Factory, originally known as Gail Force, began by supplying some of London's most prestigious restaurants, including many with Michelin stars. More than three decades later, we continue to work closely with the best chefs, alongside grocers, foodservice partners and our own neighbourhood bakery, GAIL's. The Bread Factory is synonymous with quality. We have been awarded more than 100 Great Taste Awards and have held a Royal Warrant since 2016, when it was first granted by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. In 2024, the warrant was renewed by His Majesty The King. We source our ingredients thoughtfully, partnering with farmers and millers who align with our values. The result: delicious, carefully made baked goods that support a more sustainable and nutritious food system; bringing great bread to more tables every day. Every day is different at The Bread Factory, but here are some of the things you will be doing: Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts for the product range, incorporating historical data, market trends, promotional activity, and customer input. Use forecasting tools and software to generate reliable short-term and long-term demand plans. Analyse historical sales data, market trends, and customer orders to identify patterns and adjust forecasts as necessary. Work with sales and marketing teams to integrate promotional plans and new product launches into demand forecasts. Work closely with the sales, marketing, and production teams to ensure forecasts align with business objectives and production capabilities. Communicate with suppliers to ensure the availability of products and manage lead times and stock levels. Collaborate with the supply chain and logistics teams to manage inventory levels, ensuring stock is available while avoiding excess inventory. Monitor stock levels and adjust forecasts to prevent stockouts or overstock situations. Provide regular reports on demand trends, forecast accuracy, and inventory performance. Present demand planning insights and recommendations to senior management for decision-making. Identify areas for improvement in the demand planning process and work towards streamlining processes and increasing forecast accuracy. Implement best practices and collaborate with other departments to optimise the overall supply chain. Participate in S&OP meetings, providing up-to-date forecasts and contributing to the discussion on supply and demand alignment. Monitor and achieve targeted levels of forecast accuracy (e.g., Mean Absolute Percentage Error - MAPE). Manage and improve stock levels to ensure the efficient flow of goods and reduce excess stock. Maintain optimal service levels, ensuring that customer demand is met without stockouts or excess inventory. Ensure products are available within the correct lead times and on-time delivery targets are met. Our team tells us you will be a great addition if you have: Proven experience in demand planning, supply chain management, or a related field. Experience working with demand planning software or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar). Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed decisions. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders. High level of attention to detail and accuracy in forecasting and reporting. Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Proactive problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions in a timely manner. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with demand planning software and ERP systems.
