Strongsville Family Health & Surgery Center's Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) provides advanced outpatient surgical care for both adult and pediatric patients, allowing patients to return home shortly after their procedure without an overnight stay. In this RN role, you will provide care for patients in the pre-operative, operative, and post-operative areas. This position is based in the OR setting of the ASC and requires nurses to circulate during procedures, with opportunities to learn scrubbing responsibilities as well. Nurses work through detailed patient checklists to ensure patients are fully prepared for surgery or procedures. In the PACU/Post-Op area, candidates must be comfortable managing critical care situations and monitoring patients throughout the recovery process. *This position requires flexibility to travel between the Twinsburg, Lorain, Beachwood, Strongsville, and Marymount ASCs on a fair and rotational basis. Late shifts are also required on a rotating schedule, and candidates must be comfortable working these assigned shifts.* A caregiver in this position works part-time days 7:00am-3:30pm. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide clinical nursing in the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). Assess patient care needs, plan the delivery of care and process patients through the ASC. Direct other caregivers in providing patient care. Assume charge responsibilities, resolve problems and report variances. Develop educational materials and provide health education to patients and families. Maintain nursing competencies. Participate in preparing staff development programs. Identify self-learning needs, establish goals and evaluate attainment of goals. Demonstrate respect for the cultural and social differences that exist among people. Maintain confidentiality of information regarding patients, families and caregivers. Demonstrate a positive, concerned and sensitive response in the workplace and contribute to a positive workplace atmosphere. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate of an approved school of nursing (Diploma, ADN, BSN progr am) Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) 1 year of clinical experience as an RN in a perioperative or critical care setting OR 3 years as a Surgical Technician Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire If caring for a pediatric population: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Circulating/Scrubbing experience Physical Requirements: Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
