We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Specialist Cloud Database Engineer to join our Data Engineering and Database Operations team. In this role, you will work closely with R&D developers, application teams, and business stakeholders to support and enhance enterprise database platforms and ETL solutions. You will gain exposure to complex SQL Server environments, cloud technologies, replication architectures, performance optimization, and modern database deployment practices. The role requires strong troubleshooting capabilities, proactive monitoring, and collaboration across agile teams to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of critical database systems. How will you make an impact? Design, develop, maintain, and support enterprise-grade SQL Server database solutions. Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot SQL Server Replication environments, including: Transactional Replication (mandatory) Merge Replication (mandatory) Support and troubleshoot AlwaysOn Availability Groups and High Availability solutions. Perform database backup, restore, disaster recovery, and maintenance activities. Develop and optimize SQL and T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, and database objects. Troubleshoot and maintain SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages and ETL workflows. Perform root cause analysis and resolve database performance bottlenecks. Monitor database environments using tools such as SolarWinds DPA or equivalent monitoring platforms. Collaborate with R&D developers and application teams to resolve database-related issues. Provision, configure, maintain, and support AWS RDS for MySQL and Amazon Aurora (MySQL-compatible) database environments. Partner with R&D architects to define database strategies, standards, and best practices, and to optimize performance across SQL Server and Amazon Aurora RDS. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to DBAs and engineers, guiding best practices and driving database operational excellence across the team. Work with GitHub repositories and database deployment tools such as Redgate SQL Compare. Manage database schema, scripts, and configurations in Git repositories, following version control best practices including branching, pull requests, code reviews, and CI/CD-based deployment pipelines. Develop automation scripts and operational tooling, primarily using Python (PowerShell as needed). Participate in Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and technical discussions. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and database operational excellence. Have you got what it takes? Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 8+ years of professional experience as a Database Administrator (DBA). Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server ecosystem. Advanced knowledge of SQL and T-SQL programming. Solid experience in SQL Server Database Administration. Hands-on expertise in: Backup and Restore High Availability AlwaysOn Availability Groups troubleshooting Database performance tuning and optimization Root cause analysis Strong experience with SQL Server Replication: Transactional Replication (mandatory) Merge Replication (mandatory) Hands-on experience with AWS RDS and Aurora: Amazon Aurora MySQL (mandatory) Experience supporting and troubleshooting SSIS packages and ETL processes. Strong experience with scripting and automation using Python (PowerShell a plus). Familiarity with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds DPA or similar platforms. Experience with GitHub and database deployment/version control tools such as Redgate SQL Compare. Solid experience with Git-based source control workflows, including branching, merging, pull requests, code reviews, and CI/CD pipeline integration. Good understanding of cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services and/or Microsoft Azure is an advantage. Experience with Infrastructure as Code and provisioning tools such as AWS CloudFormation and Spacelift is an advantage. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
