Server Programmer

Responsibilities

• Work with designers and gameplay programmers to design, build and own server powered gameplay features.
• Work with the publisher in specifying requirements, investigating their technology, and troubleshooting problems.
• Use a wide variety of proprietary server technologies to develop solutions with.
• Write technical proposals clearly explaining your ideas and considering potential challenges and alternative approaches.
• Liaise with developers from other companies to solve challenging problems affecting live games.
• Document your work including new processes and newly created APIs.
• Contribute to regular code reviews, while championing code quality and best practices.
• What you'll bring with you:
• Strong Java development skills and experience along with good knowledge of client/server networking.
• Concurrent programming experience in a server environment.
• Large scale server software development on Google Cloud or AWS and/or dedicated servers (preferably a game backend) experience.
• MySql and MongoDB experience, including knowledge of their scalability and data integrity concerns.
• Eclipse, Docker and Git experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• A willingness to learn new programming languages and technologies.
• A desire to solve problems, including in other people's code.
• Nice to have skills and experience:
• Linux.
• Akka.
• C/C++ and/or Objective C.
• Xcode development environment.
• Android Studio development environment.
• Agile development practices.

Additional Information

We are looking for a Server Programmer to join the Sumo India engineering team. The server programmer will be responsible for the design and implementation of server features, bug fixes and their deployment on a live game.
