Scrub Technician

About the role

Support surgical teams by preparing operating rooms, maintaining strict sterility standards and assisting surgeons during procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing the operating room for surgical procedures.
• Ensure all surgical instruments and consumables are available and sterilized.
• Check equipment (e.g., suction machines, lights, and diathermy machines) to ensure they are functioning properly.
• Prepare and position patients for surgery while ensuring comfort and safety.
• Maintain strict infection prevention and aseptic techniques.
• Conduct mandatory counts of surgical instruments, needles, and sponges before, during, and at the end of every procedure.
• Compiled with hospital policies and patient safety standards.
• Clean and prepare operating theatres between procedures.
• Safely handle contaminated wastes, clean instruments, and perform "terminal cleaning" of the OT suite. Assist with transferring patients to the recovery area.

Requirements

• Possesses Higher Certificate in Healthcare Support or GCE N/O levels is usually preferred.
• 1to 3+ years of operating theatre or clinical setting experience is typically expected.
• Strong attention to detail, crisis management, physical stamina to stand for long periods, and the ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
