Get to Know the Role We are looking for an experienced and visionary Software Engineering Manager II to join our dynamic team. You will lead a group of software engineers, improve technical performance, and collaborate across teams to provide solutions that make a positive impact. You will combine strategies with hands-on technical expertise to build scalable systems while promoting a culture of constant learning and growth within your team. You will report to our Senior Software Engineering Manager and based onsite in our office in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The Critical Tasks You Will Perform Lead a team of engineers across diverse technology stacks, promoting an inclusive and supportive environment where they can grow and reach their full potential Conduct code and design reviews to maintain high development standards and ensure architectural excellence across all systems and modules Partner with product, design, and analytics leaders to develop customer-focused product roadmaps, establish meaningful metrics, and design experiments with effectiveness Develop quarterly planning cycles, creating clear execution plans that align engineering and product roadmaps while ensuring delivery of commitments in accordance to timeline Set strategic engineering goal measurements for your team, always driving improvements in testability, availability, security, and code quality Involve in active recruitment of senior engineering talents, building a high-performing team that reflects diverse perspectives and experiences Develop engineering talent across the organization, creating clear career paths and growth opportunities for your team members Maintain organizational alignments by adjusting team staffing and priorities in response to evolving needs Communicate with team members about progress, challenges, and projects, ensuring understanding across all levels in the organization What Essential Skills You Will Need 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on backend technologies and distributed systems 2+ years of experience in a software engineering leadership role, demonstrating the ability to build performing teams Demonstrated expertise in attracting, recruiting, and retaining top engineering talent with experience developing engineers into senior-level contributors Proficiency with CI/CD tools and platforms (such as Jenkins, GitLab, or similar solutions) Knowledge of database architecture and design, including hands-on experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, and other relational databases Practical experience deploying and managing applications in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) Experience with system architecture, scalability principles, and performance optimization techniques Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies in managing engineering teams and projects Coach abilities with a genuine commitment to developing others Make decisions based on data, analysis and solving issues Present and explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences Demonstrated empathy, modesty, and emotional understanding in team interactions Experience collaborating across product, design, business, and program management departments Complete work with strategies and adapting to changing priorities Organize work, managing time, and detailing every aspect.
