Additional Information
You own the pipes. When developers ship code, you are the reason it reaches production safely, quickly, and with full visibility. As Platform Engineer, you will take hands-on ownership of our CI/CD pipelines, deployment infrastructure, and release process. You will work directly with the Head of Development to build the tooling and practices that underpin our 12-month roadmap, moving from unstable, high-risk releases to scheduled, low-risk deployments with clear metrics and rollback capability. This is not a reactive operations role. It is a builder role. You will design, implement, and progressively hand off the infrastructure that makes the rest of the engineering team more effective and confident. "You will design, implement, and own the infrastructure that makes releases safe, fast, and observable, and help the team build the habits to match." Release & Deployment Ownership Design and own the end-to-end release process: branching strategy, environment promotion (dev → staging → production), go/no-go criteria, and rollback procedures Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that give developers fast, reliable feedback and safe paths to production Implement feature flags to decouple deployment from feature launch Establish and track release metrics: deployment frequency, change failure rate, and mean time to recovery Infrastructure & Platform Stability Own and evolve our Kubernetes workloads on GCP - reliability, scaling, and operational health Improve monitoring and alerting across the platform, with particular focus on our event bus, external integrations, and critical services Lead the scalability review of our core platform and help translate findings into an actionable roadmap Contribute to a target of 40% reduction in deployment time through pipeline and process improvements Process & Team Enablement Define and document pull request standards, Definition of Done, and deployment readiness criteria Support the incident management process: detection, response, post-mortem, and the learning loop Serve as a role model for engineering quality and take initiative in raising the bar across the team Required 2+ years in a DevOps, Platform Engineering, or SRE role Hands-on ownership of CI/CD pipelines in a cloud-native environment Strong experience with Kubernetes, deployment, scaling, and troubleshooting Google Cloud Platform (GCP), monitoring, networking, managed services Comfortable with Java/SpringBoot codebases, you don't need to build features, but you need to understand what you're shipping Experience defining and measuring reliability metrics Strong Plus Scale-up or fast-growth environment, you know how to bring structure without bureaucracy Incident management and post-mortem facilitation Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or equivalent) Event-driven or microservices architectures Healthcare, regulated, or 24/7 availability contexts We are looking for someone who takes initiative and makes things better without being asked. You will be working in a team that is building structure for the first time, that requires patience, clarity in communication, and genuine care about the engineers around you as much as the systems you build. You explain trade-offs clearly, pros, cons, and context, rather than pushing a single answer You would rather read documentation and understand a system than guess and fix it later You are comfortable with ambiguity and can help create clarity from it You care about the mission, what we build helps elderly people live with greater independence
