Responsibilities
- Documents individual's progress in the clinical record including admission order, progress notes, and discharge orders. Oversees delivery of medication education and consent, according to established policy.
- Assesses individual's needs and guides the clinical team while managing treatment plan updates, in addition to initiating contact with Outpatient Behavioral Health Provider according to established guidelines. Reviews and utilizes all available documents from the crisis clinical team.
- Provides necessary information to clinical team regarding inpatient utilization. Utilizes appropriate medication based on best practices.
- Participates in medical staff meetings including regional and quarterly meetings; participates in all required meetings; and participates in any meeting as requested by Medical Leadership.
- Complete petition for emergency custody order for all individuals who require further treatment evaluation.
- Complete Medication over Objection petitions, as needed.
- Testify in civil commitment hearings as needed/required by the court.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Nurse Practitioner
- Unrestricted Registered Nursing license in the State of Virginia or hold multistate license
- Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a master's level certification in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP)
- Advanced P ractice Registered Nurse (APRN) by the Virginia Joint Boards of Nursing and Medicine
- Licensed by the Virginia Board of Nursing and National Certifications
- Unrestricted DEA license and registered with the Virginia Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP)
- M u st have current DEA registration that includes Schedule III authority
