Job Summary: Leads the Technical activities of the Product Engineering Department to support Sales, Design, Operations, and Continuous Improvement goals along with the company's strategic goals. Cross Functionally establishes the overall technical objectives and initiatives of the Engineering Department. Ensuring that products are designed or re-designed, or new product lines introduced, to meet quality and sales objectives. Essential Functions: High level coordination support for engineering activities needed to process sales orders through release for manufacturing. Supports continuous improvement and cost reduction activities through improved product design / design for manufacturing (DFM) Works closely with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure smooth production releases. Onboard and train new designers/engineers. Develops and maintains training routines...both site general and individual specific. Continuously monitor and Right Size Product Engineering team against norms. Continuously monitor and drive teaching opportunities. Both work specifically and culturally. Continuously drive Right First-Time mindsets and the corresponding methodologies. Supports Service Engineering RFE's. Understand the pulse of production, from a technical/engineering standpoint, to ensure quality and timely product deliverables. Works to understand and develop best practices in developing the new VA site. Generally speaking: Be the team leader. Additional Responsibilities: Provide guidance and technical supervision to Engineering staff. Promotes teamwork and staff involvement in inter-departmental improvement activities Develop skill sets of engineering personnel in support of plant production goals Provide guidance and technical support to the business team. If needed, support the business team with customer-facing activities. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The ability to build consensus amongst co-workers, and the ability to facilitate problem resolution Demonstrated problem solver; team player Education and Qualifications: Experience in HVAC design and component selection including fans, coils, refrigeration systems, and gas heat Experience with PLC programming and HMI interfaces Experience with common design software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD Demonstrated experience in configurable and custom product management Bachelor's degree in engineering Master is preferred, experience can be in lieu of 10+ years of industry experience Physical Requirements: Sedentary work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. This work requires sitting most of the time. Daily walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing for sustained periods of time, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
