About the role

You will serve as a GG-2210-13 IT Specialist (INFOSEC) at the HOPPER GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS CENTER in Suitland, MD. As a forward deployed Region Information System Security Manager (RISSM) for Information Assurance (IA), Information Security (IS),and Cyber Security, including Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) systems/networks, you will provide guidance, policies, and oversight for day-to-day security operations. This position requires one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In addition to experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GG/GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: Provides specialized technical services across key domains: policy, security, systems analysis, applications, network services, and database administration. Manages end-to-end data lifecycles, including transmission, storage, quality assurance, and high-speed data switching. Directs complex installations, operations, and lifecycle maintenance for mainframe, minicomputer, microcomputer, and modern desktop technologies. Leads technical acquisitions and integrations of major enterprise hardware and software platforms. Develops novel methodologies and technical procedures to resolve highly complex, non-routine IT challenges. Interprets federal/organizational IT policies and recommends the adoption of emerging technologies. Diagnoses, analyzes, and resolves critical systems, software, and hardware bottlenecks. Tests and optimizes data transfers across enterprise networks, backbones, and hybrid environments. Conducts rigorous risk assessments and reviews certification and accreditation (C&A/A&A) documentation for compliance. Develops and hardens system security processes to proactively mitigate vulnerabilities.
