Additional Information
Consumables is the team dedicated to baby, beauty, grocery, health and personal care, and pet products - the items Amazon customers use every day. We focus on making the Amazon shopping experience more convenient, driving business growth and strategy related to the online sale of everything from dog food to diapers. We work with brands to innovate on products and build the technology that makes it easy for shoppers to discover and order them. From Subscribe and Save to Baby Registry, we own experiences that simplify shopping. We also develop experiences for specific customer needs, from Climate Pledge Friendly, which helps customers find products with sustainability benefits, to Amazon Access, which helps customers use insurance and government benefits to purchase goods. Our business and technical teams are made up of builders who get excited about delivering work with direct, measurable impact on customers. We're challenged by the scale and pace of Amazon, and we embrace the opportunity to learn from each other as we drive the business forward. As a Product Manager on this team, you'll work at the intersection of e-commerce, AI, and large-scale operations, building product requirements for the tools and systems that power our business across some of the most complex and high-visibility areas in retail: ● Customer Experience and Monetization: Defining requirements for systems that shape how customers discover, subscribe to, and purchase products, from delivery speed and pricing to subscription models and service offerings. ● Operational and Vendor Systems: Translating business needs into product requirements for tools that improve cost-to-serve, fulfillment efficiency, and the vendor experience, including compliance, accuracy, and dispute resolution. ● Experimentation and AI/ML-Driven Optimization: Partnering with science and engineering teams to define requirements for experimentation platforms and AI-driven decision-making tools, ensuring models and tests deliver measurable business outcomes. ● Cross-Functional Product Leadership: Serving as the primary business partner between category, operations, and product/tech organizations, driving alignment between business strategy and technical roadmaps. Key job responsibilities ● Product Lifecycle Ownership: Own and manage the full lifecycle of a product or major feature, from idea and design through justification, build, launch, and continued innovation. ● Vision and Strategy: Define the problem(s) to solve, desired customer experience, product vision, tenets, and strategy; work backwards from the customer, including writing press releases that articulate what we would say to customers on release day. ● Roadmap and Prioritization: Define creative, high-quality product roadmaps based on team strategy and vision; manage prioritization and trade-offs as a product and business owner across customer experience, performance, and operational support. ● Requirements Development: Develop detailed requirements and user stories for product specifications and architecture; determine when to build, improve an existing solution, or integrate existing features for a more cohesive end-to-end customer experience. ● Market Research and Competitive Analysis: Perform or commission market research, usability studies, and competitive analysis to identify best-in-class benchmarks and inform product decisions. ● Metrics and KPI Ownership: Define mechanisms and metrics, including KPIs, funnels, conversion, and adoption measures, that enable clear explanation of product performance and variance against goals; proactively seek out new data mechanisms to keep the product aligned with business goals. ● Risk Mitigation and Judgment: Proactively identify and mitigate risks, including requirements gaps, cross-team collaboration issues, and quality shortfalls; use judgment to test assumptions and know when to escalate to ensure solutions scale. ● Stakeholder Alignment: Create buy-in for the product vision internally and with key external partners; build consensus across diverse stakeholders; contribute to OP1/OP2 planning and drive product discussions, including vision, roadmap, narratives, and MBR/QBR reviews, with executive representatives. ● Mentoring and Recruiting: Actively mentor and develop others on product management best practices; participate in recruiting and interviewing.
