Description of Work This position reports to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor I at a multi-custody female correctional facility. This position performs full range journey level duties in the installation maintenance & repair of air, gas, oil, water and waste disposal systems. Key Duties Included: - Examine and determine best methods of installation repair of commercial plumbing systems as well as safety precautions of the plumbing trade. - Utilize various tools in a skilled manner to remodel, upgrade, maintain and assemble material and equipment commonly used in this trade. - Observe and inspect internal structure of building schematics and local, state and federal safety codes. - Evaluate and repair damaged areas by following proper procedures when cutting and threading pipes utilizing motorized and mechanical tools to ensure connected pipes, fixtures, and valves to form a leak-free system. - Solder copper pipe and utilize the standard tools and materials required for this procedure. - Create a list of materials after critique and evaluation of repairs for specific projects and submit them to supervisor for review. - Provide guidance and apply knowledge and skills in commercial kitchen equipment evaluation for critical repairs and routine maintenance. - Create lead joints and install various types of plastic pipe. - Replace stainless steel and porcelain plumbing fixtures in a correctional facility - Respond in a timely matter to emergency calls and/or when on call duty. - Supervise offenders engaged in semi-skilled work.
