About the role

We are seeking a Senior Associate to join our London-based Projects & Construction team on a minimum 12-month fixed-term contract. This role will focus on high-quality transactional construction and projects work, supporting major infrastructure, energy and development projects in the UK and internationally. The successful candidate will play a key role in advising clients on the drafting and negotiation of construction and project documentation, working closely with partners and colleagues across our global network.

Responsibilities

  • Advising on and drafting a broad range of transactional construction documentation, including: Building contracts (JCT, NEC and bespoke forms), EPC contracts (including FIDIC), Professional appointments and collateral warranties, Framework agreements and related project documentation
  • Supporting on the construction aspects of project financings and corporate transactions
  • Advising on procurement strategies and risk allocation
  • Negotiating construction documentation on behalf of employers, developers, contractors and funders
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across real estate, energy, projects finance and corporate teams
  • Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers, where appropriate
  • Contributing to client relationship development and business development initiatives

Requirements

  • England & Wales qualified lawyer with significant post-qualification experience (typically 5+ PQE) in transactional construction/projects work
  • Strong experience advising on complex construction and infrastructure projects
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
  • Commercially astute with a pragmatic approach to risk
  • Experience working with clients in sectors such as infrastructure, energy, real estate or transport
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and work to tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
