Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. This is more than just a job - it's a chance to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change. As a Cooking Activities Volunteer, you'll help design and lead weekly cooking sessions at Islington St Georges. These sessions are intended to build confidence and promote independent living skills through hands-on, enjoyable cooking experiences. Tasks may include: Building rapport with residents to understand their interests, dietary needs, and confidence levels around cooking. Planning and delivering fun, inclusive cooking sessions that focus on healthy, budget-friendly meals. Supporting the Wednesday Lunch Club and other group cooking activities. Encouraging participation and helping residents feel empowered and involved. Skills/qualities we would like you to bring to the role: A genuine interest in cooking and healthy eating, with enthusiasm for sharing this with others Awareness of food hygiene and allergies and willingness to obtain a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (training will be provided if needed) Good IT skills (training given for Waythrough systems) Good written and verbal communication skills Attention to detail Ability to keep a track of multiple tasks and report back on progress Caring, understanding and non-judgmental approach towards people with lived experience and using mental health services Confident to contact people by email / phone Reliable, with good time keeping Able to work as part of a team, on own initiative and to instruction An understanding of Waythrough - information is available on our website A genuine interest in being part of the mission and vision of Waythrough Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, adhere to Waythrough policies and media guidelines, engage in supervision, and complete relevant training (including on safeguarding, boundaries, cyber security, DEIB and health & safety)
