Responsibilities
- In this role, you will
- Design and build new backend services or features that power Fortnite anti-cheat or related security capabilities, as well as implementing corresponding game code
- Read, debug, and write code for Fortnite in C++ and associated backend services in Go
- Proactively seek out vulnerable components in the Fortnite game client or backend, then clearly communicate the problem and recommended solution, implementing it as well if appropriate Influence others to maintain a security oriented mindset
- Debug, modify, and optimize existing security systems for both the Fortnite game client and backend components
- Ensure Fortnite is operating well for players and that our services are resilient at scale. Assist in diagnosing and resolving Live issues
Requirements
- BSc in Computer Science/Software Programming or related subject - candidates without a degree are welcome as long as they have proven extensive hands-on experience
- Excellent knowledge and debugging skills in the C++ programming language
- Fluency in Go, Java, C#, or similar programming language
- Self-starter, you approach challenges creatively and methodically, seeing them through to final resolution
- Ability to code and design system frameworks, new APIs, and tools. Versed in software programming principles
- Understanding of online multiplayer video game architectures
- Technical understanding of the structure and technology stacks of online service backends
- User-focused, passionate, solutions-focused, and innovative. These traits equal success at Epic and influence everything we do
