The Division of Critical Care in the Department of Anesthesiology Preoperative Medicine and Pain Medicine at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Critical Care Physician with primary certification in Anesthesiology, Internal Medicine OR Surgery to join our multidisciplinary team providing exceptional care to critically ill oncology patients in a high-acuity academic environment. In addition to direct clinical care, this physician will contribute meaningfully to resident education, institutional collaboration, and the continued advancement of evidence-based critical care practices.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct critical care services for patients in our 14-bed Intensive Care unit (ICU) or 14-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) in a 24/7 physician-led team model with support from APPs and residents
- Participate approximately 140-164 shifts annually as a full-time employee with a typical shift duration of 12 hours
- Shifts are distributed equitably to all Critical Care Physicians through a transparent shift selection process to promote a healthy work life balance
- Opportunity to allocate a portion of clinical time to one's primary certification (i.e., operating room anesthesia for anesthesiologists), if desired
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, high-acuity oncology setting
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across surgical, medical, and oncologic specialties
- Support continuity of care and clinical excellence through strong communication and collaboration with colleagues and partner institutions
- Contribute to resident and trainee education through lectures, bedside teaching, and mentorship
- Participate in academic and administrative initiatives supporting departmental and institutional goals
- Maintain current ACLS, BLS, and other required certifications
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, compassion, and operational excellence aligned with High Reliability Organization principles

Requirements
- MD, DO, or equivalent degree
- Primary certification in Anesthesiology, Internal Medicine OR or Surgery with subspecialty certification in Critical Care Medicines
- Experience managing critically ill and medically complex patients within multidisciplinary care settings
- Current ACLS, BLS, and other required clinical certifications
- A collaborative and solutions-oriented approach to clinical care and interdisciplinary teamwork
