About the role

This position is in the VA Acquisition Academy (VAAA), Acquisition Intern School (AIS) within the Office of Acquisitions & Logistics (OAL). Serves as a supportive program analyst for AIS, responsible for performing a wide range of complex assignments relative to providing training programs for AIS. The incumbent assists in data management, identifying, monitoring, and advising leadership on significant operational, community, communication, and personnel issues or actions for the organization. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 05/22/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-13 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-12. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to some former Federal employees applying for reinstatement, as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-12 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience conducting management studies by gathering, analyzing, and presenting data to develop reports and briefings. Experience collecting, managing, and evaluating performance and program data using tools such as SQL databases and Power BI to support organizational goals and metrics. Experience applying analytical techniques to identify issues, assess programs, and recommend data-driven improvements. Experience evaluating organizational problems and developing targeted communications and recommendations to improve operations. Evidence of this specialized experience must be supported by detailed documentation of like duties performed in positions held on your resume. You will also need to provide work experience information such as hours per week, full-time/part-time status, and starting/ending dates of employment (month and year format) to establish you have one (1) full year of specialized experience at the required grade level. Quality Ranking Factor: Must have 5+ years of experience working with Power BI and using data analytics tools to manipulate and present data to both peers and senior leaders.
