JOB PURPOSE PHINIA is seeking a Shopfloor Apps Solution Architect / Delivery Coordinator to own delivery outcomes across manufacturing IT projects spanning multiple global plants. This role evaluates technical proposals, coordinates cross-functional delivery, and ensures shopfloor solutions meet architecture standards and operational requirements. The coordinator partners with a Bucharest based architecture lead for technical direction and serves as the in timezone point of contact for plant stakeholders, vendor teams, and the India based engineering team. This is not a hands on coding role - it requires someone who has coded enough to detect when engineers or vendors are oversimplifying or padding, and who can make architectural decisions that hold up on the plant floor.
Responsibilities
- Own delivery outcomes for manufacturing IT projects across multiple PHINIA plants, coordinating engineering resources, vendor teams, and plant stakeholders to meet scope, timeline, and quality commitments.
- Evaluate technical proposals, solution designs, and effort estimates from engineers and vendors; identify gaps, challenge assumptions, and ensure alignment with PHINIA's architecture standards and shopfloor realities.
- Serve as the primary in‑timezone interface between plant ME/OpEx teams and the delivery team - triaging incoming requests, setting priorities, and managing stakeholder expectations.
- Coordinate cross‑functional delivery across MES, ERP (SAP), SCADA/PLC, historians, and IoT platform integrations, ensuring end‑to‑end solution coherence across the integration landscape.
- Manage vendor and system integrator engagements - reviewing deliverables, enforcing milestone gates, evaluating technical quality (not just timelines), and course‑correcting when needed.
- Structure delivery under ambiguity: scope manufacturing IT projects with incomplete requirements, run discovery sprints, and keep delivery on track when plant teams cannot fully articulate their data or process needs.
- Provide architecture oversight for shopfloor applications, dashboards, machine‑data connectors, and operator interfaces in collaboration with the Bucharest‑based architecture lead.
- Drive SQL‑based data mining across production databases to validate integration outputs, troubleshoot data quality issues, and support plant stakeholder reporting needs.
- Ensure all shopfloor solutions follow PHINIA's cybersecurity, Zero‑Trust OT, data integrity, and resilience standards, including IEC 62443‑aligned principles.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation including architecture overviews, integration specifications, data‑flow diagrams, and delivery runbooks for global implementation teams.
- Contribute to digital manufacturing initiatives including IIoT enablement, predictive analytics, machine connectivity, AI/vision systems, and smart‑factory programs.
- Support knowledge transfer and onboarding of new team members; build documentation and processes that reduce single‑person dependencies.
- Responsible for coordinating and ensuring delivery of local team results.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Manufacturing Systems, or a related technical field
- 8-12 years of experience in manufacturing IT, MES, or shopfloor application development/integration, with at least 3 years coordinating mult
