This position is located in Milwaukee, WI at the Children's Wisconsin hospital campus. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching. The Department of Surgery is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support the division of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery the purpose of this position is to evaluate patients and render care, within the scope of practice outlined by state statue, within inpatient, operating room, and outpatient settings for congenital (Adult & Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgical Services located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at Children's Wisconsin, and Froedtert Hospital. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching. The Ideal Candidate will be a Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery experienced APP with Agility, excellent communication skill, and strong ability to critically think wanting to be part of a thriving and very collaborative academic practice at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). Areas of responsibility will include, but not be limited to providing direct patient care to adult and pediatric patients in a blended setting. In this role you will, Post Operative Procedures include but are not limited to the following: Chest tube insertion/removal and maintenance Arterial line placement (percutaneous/cut-down) Intracardiac line removal/maintenance Removal temporary pacing wires Wound VAC placement/maintenance Post-Op VAD care Intra-operative Procedures (based on level of experience) include, but are not limited to the following: Chest Opening to pericardium (virgin/resternotomy) 1st & 2nd Surgical assisting Chest closure Provides for afterhours patients care that requires on-call coverage to include patient rounds and performing procedures when called to the hospital for emergency services. Call time will be determined by the service. Will provide services at multiple hospitals based on the location of the clinical practice. Participation in administrative or non-clinical activities (CHW,HHI,MCW) as required.
