Senior Carpenter

Responsibilities

• Carpentry Work
• Perform complex carpentry tasks such as framing, installing doors, windows, cabinets, and custom woodwork.
• Ensure the quality and precision of all carpentry work, following blueprints and architectural plans.
• Operate carpentry tools and machinery safely and efficiently.
• Project Management
• Lead and manage carpentry projects from start to finish, ensuring work is completed on schedule and within budget.
• Interpret and follow detailed construction blueprints and specifications.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other trades to coordinate project activities.
• Team Leadership
• Supervise and guide a team of carpenters, apprentices, and laborers on-site, providing training and direction as needed.
• Delegate tasks based on team members' skills and experience, ensuring efficient use of resources.
• Ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols and best practices on the job site.
• Quality Control
• Inspect work done by junior carpenters and apprentices to ensure it meets quality standards and specifications.

Requirements

• Education and Training
• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or a formal apprenticeship in carpentry is highly desirable.
• Certification in carpentry or a related field is preferred (e.g., National Vocational Qualification - NVQ or similar).
• Experience
• At least 5-10years of professional experience in carpentry, with significant hands-on experience in various types of woodwork.
• Proven experience leading carpentry projects and managing a team.
• Experience working with both residential and commercial construction projects.
• Skills
• Advanced carpentry skills: Ability to perform complex carpentry tasks with high precision and quality.
• Blueprint reading and interpretation: Proficient in reading architectural drawings, blueprints, and construction plans.
• Team leadership: Strong leadership and supervisory skills to guide a team of carpenters and apprentices.
