About the role

The International Water Management Institute ( IWMI ), a CGIAR Research Center, is looking for an enthusiastic candidate to take on the role of Grants Management Specialist based out of its office in New Delhi, India. The position is embedded within the IWMI India project implementation team and contributes to the Indo‑German Cooperation on Agrivoltaics (IGCA), a multi‑partner initiative implemented with GIZ and Fraunhofer ISE under the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Government. The project supports the scaling of agrivoltaics in India through business models, financing mechanisms, capacity development, field testing, and policy alignment across diverse agro‑ecological regions. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Main Purpose of Job: Organize and oversee the internal review and management of grants, sub‑grants, partnership agreements, and contracts to ensure compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements and enable effective project delivery. Recommend and implement grant and partnership management process improvements to reduce approval timelines and strengthen consistency and quality of agreements. Prepare, review, and amend grant and contract documents using approved templates to ensure accuracy, clarity of terms, and alignment with organizational and donor standards. Ensure due diligence assessments are conducted for partners, sub‑grantees, consultants, and service providers, identifying and addressing risks to safeguard organizational and donor interests. Ensure grants, agreements, and contracts are compliant by design, supporting effective negotiation, approval, and signing processes. Main engagement, collaboration and communication responsibilities: Act as the focal point for internal stakeholders within the assigned portfolio, providing clear guidance and timely responses on grant, partnership, and contract management matters. Collaborate with project leadership, project management, finance, and other relevant units in the review and sign‑off of agreements prior to signing to ensure alignment with organizational policies. Engage with project teams, country offices, partners, and sub‑grantees to resolve contractual, compliance, and implementation issues in a timely and constructive manner. Liaise with donors, partners, sub‑grantees, consultants, and service providers on contract terms and conditions to ensure clear roles, responsibilities, and deliverables. Organize and contribute to training and information sessions on grant and partnership management requirements to strengthen compliance and shared understanding among project teams and partners. Main responsibilities in the delivery of timely and quality services: Monitor and oversee contract and agreement development timelines to prevent delays and support timely project implementation. Maintain and update grants, contracts, and partnership databases and tracking tools to ensure accurate, complete, and accessible information for decision‑making and reporting. Develop and review grant and partnership agreement documentation to ensure compliance with organizational policies and donor regulations and requirements. Identify potential risks related to contract terms, partner capacity, and compliance, and work with relevant stakeholders to document and implement appropriate mitigation measures. Education, Certifications & Training: Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Management, Public Policy or related discipline. Master's degree is an added advantage. An additional diploma or professional qualification in Accounting / Financial Management will be an added advantage. Experience: Minimum 05 years of relevant work experience, including at least 02 years of demonstrated experience in large / complex project environment. Experience in administering and overseeing grant, contracts and agreement processes. Experience with donor and funding compliance and ensuring due diligence. Experience in project management is an advantage. Experience working in an international not-for-profit organization is an advantage.
