About the role
An established and well-respected secure mental health service is seeking a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist to join its women's service. Responsibilities
- Lead the clinical care of a women's secure ward (medium or low secure)
- Deliver comprehensive psychiatric assessment, formulation, and treatment
- Work collaboratively with the MDT to ensure high-quality, recovery-focused care
- Engage in service development, governance, and quality improvement work
- Provide assessments for referrals to determine appropriate placement
- Prepare and deliver written and oral evidence for Tribunal and Managers' hearings
- Participate in a low-frequency second-on-call rota (approx. 1 in 17 for full-time clinicians)
- Optional paid first-on-call shifts available, with time back in lieu
Requirements
- Full GMC registration
- MRCPsych (or equivalent)
- On the GMC Specialist Register (or within 6 months) for Forensic or General Adult Psychiatry
- Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status
- Experience managing complex mental health presentations in secure or acute settings
- Strong MDT-working skills and an interest in service development
