Responsibilities
- Completes preventive maintenance and vehicle inspections in accordance with Company fleet practices
- Performs daily inspections of fleet vehicles; completes preventative maintenance and repairs any problems or defects identified during preventative maintenance inspections
- Tests necessary equipment for defect diagnosis and ensures proper repairs have been completed
- Responds to calls when a driver breaks down; determines if an outside contractor is required and ensures that repairs are made efficiently and in a cost effective manner
- Reviews equipment repair history and documents similar repairs; identifies trends and provides tags/parts of repairs for warranty assistance
- Maintains working knowledge of current technologies and equipment being utilized in the transportation fleet. Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins by attending training seminars and courses
- Maintains a clean, safe work environment in compliance with Company guidelines and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards
- Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and Company guidelines by completing required trainings, as well as obtaining required certifications
- Performs work in accordance to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements
- Performs repairs to building and facility as needed
- Provides timely communication of critical events that need to be considered and/or addressed by Management
- Works on outside equipment, in a safe manner, regardless of weather conditions, as needed
- Completes other duties, including special projects, as assigned by Management
- Skill Requirements:
- Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), EPA and OSHA
- Demonstrated expertise with Word, Excel, and other MS Office suite applications
- Ability to conduct and complete Company business in a professional and ethical manner
- Ability to lift equipment weighing in excess of 125 pounds
- Ability to operate hand and power tools and special equipment to complete work assignments
- Good understanding of intra-department functions and operations
- Ability to perform repeated bending, standing and reaching
