This senior academic role offers an exceptional opportunity to provide strategic leadership in research, innovation and teaching within the Division of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work , School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health. The post holder will join a large, vibrant and interdisciplinary academic community at the University of Manchester and will play a key role in shaping and advancing contemporary agendas to reduce health and care inequalities at local, national and international levels. This is a full‑time, permanent Professorial appointment (Grade 9E) based on the University's Oxford Road campus. You will be responsible for: Leading and delivering a high‑impact, externally funded research programme focused on health and care inequalities Shaping contemporary research agendas and contributing to interdisciplinary and cross‑faculty research challenges Producing and disseminating research outputs of national and international standing Translating research findings into practice and policy across clinical, community and public settings Providing academic leadership, including mentoring early‑ and mid‑career researchers and supervising postgraduate research students We welcome candidates who bring diverse perspectives, experiences, and approaches to their work. You should demonstrate: Essential Criteria A PhD in a relevant discipline A sustained, internationally recognised research profile with a strong publication record Proven success in securing and leading externally funded research programmes Demonstrable leadership in research development, impact and engagement Strong commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and social responsibility Desirable Criteria Research impact across areas such as digital healthcare, healthy ageing, mental health or long‑term conditions Experience working with policymakers, practitioners or non‑academic partners Experience contributing to interdisciplinary or cross‑sector research initiatives We value inclusive leadership, collegiality and a commitment to developing a positive research culture as much as individual academic excellence.
