Our Flight Service Specialists (FS Specialist) play a critical role in supporting the safe, efficient and orderly movement of air traffic in 7 flight information regions (FIRs), working in NAV CANADA sites across the country. This application is for Flight Service Specialist positions in the Region FIR (province (s)). FS Specialists working in Airport Advisory Services (AAS) provide essential information including weather updates, runway advisories and coordination of vehicles movement on runways and taxiways. After completing training, they work at one of 53 Flight Service Stations (FSS) across the country. 9 of the 53 FSS are in the Region FIR: Gatineau, Iles-de-la-Madeleine, Kuujjuaq, La Grande, Mirabel, Mont-Joli, Rouyn, Sept-Iles and Val d'Or. FS Specialists working at Flight Information Centres (FIC) provide pre‑flight and in‑flight services such as weather briefings, flight planning support, and updates on airspace restrictions or hazards. They also monitor flights en route, issue safety advisories, and coordinate alerting services for overdue or distressed aircraft. The training is paid for and provided by NAV CANADA, and you will also receive a salary during training. Flight Service Specialist - Airport Advisory Services Certified salary $80,859 to $127,424. Training includes two phases: initial training (classroom and simulator) and on-the-job training. Training Salary: $50,200 Average total duration of training: 8 to 11 months For FS Specialist students posted to certain remote locations, we offer a location incentive. Locations will be assigned after successful completion of the initial training course. These incentives are paid, in addition to the annual salary, at the end of each year on site for three years. The incentives are as follows: $3,000.00 after first year $5,000.00 after second year $7,000.00 after third year Flight Service Specialist - Flight Information Centre Certified salary $96,157 to $122,619. Training includes two phases: initial training (classroom and simulator) and on-the-job training.
