About the role

Employee will serve as a Program Analyst - Research Data Analyst at the Veterans Healthcare Administration within Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center (MIRECC). The location of the position is negotiable. The salary represents the General Schedule U.S. base pay for the GS-12 grade. Salary will be based on locality pay within location of selection. QUALIFICATIONS To apply for this position, you must have the following qualifications: Specialized Experience: Requires one full year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes applying analytical and evaluative methods using SQL and/or SAS to query, clean, and analyze large administrative healthcare datasets of a clinical program; collaborating with investigators to formulate and administer plans and policies designed to meet text/data mining research program objectives; and communicating both in-person and in-writing, to make presentations, present data, explain recommendations, provide guidance, and respond to inquiries, and prepare reports. Physical Demands: The work is sedentary. Typically, the incumbent may sit comfortably to perform portions of the work. However, there is periodic walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as instructional material, books and manuals. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work, works at a computer screen for long periods of time and interacts with other sites via phone and email. Employee needs to have good manual dexterity and eyesight. The work is primarily sedentary and involves prolonged periods of sitting, working at a computer and performing tasks that require concentration and attention to detail. There are no special physical demands. The work may require occasional walking, standing or carrying light items such as files or documents.
