About the role

We are looking for a diligent and organised Paralegal to join our team. This is a hands-on role that sits at the centre of our legal operations, providing support across multiple practice areas and working closely with our lawyers to deliver a high standard of client service. You will be involved in a range of legal work - from family and Syariah law matters to civil litigation and corporate support - giving you broad exposure across our practice groups and the opportunity to develop deep expertise over time.

Responsibilities

  • Case and Matter Support
  • Prepare, review, and organise legal documents, correspondence, and court filings across practice areas
  • Draft routine legal letters, affidavits, cause papers, and statutory declarations under the supervision of lawyers
  • Manage case files from opening to closing, ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and properly filed
  • Conduct legal research and prepare summaries or briefing notes as directed
  • Family and Syariah Law Matters
  • Assist with the preparation of documents for divorce proceedings (both contested and uncontested), including matters before the Syariah Court
  • Support lawyers handling inheritance, estate administration, and Muslim will (wasiat) matters
  • Help coordinate with the Registry of Muslim Marriages, the Syariah Court, and relevant government agencies
  • Assist in preparing applications involving faraid (Islamic inheritance) and cross-border estate matters
  • Litigation Support
  • Prepare court bundles, hearing files, and cause papers for civil and criminal proceedings
  • Liaise with the Courts, opposing counsel, and government agencies on procedural matters
  • Assist with the management of timelines, deadlines, and court schedules
  • Support lawyers during hearings and trials as required
  • Corporate and Estate Planning Support
  • Assist with the preparation and review of corporate documents, shareholder agreements, and related correspondence
  • Help draft and process documents for probate, letters of administration, and other estate planning matters
  • Coordinate with relevant government bodies and registries as needed
  • Client Service and Administration
  • Communicate with clients in a professional and empathetic manner, providing timely updates on matter progress
  • Liaise with and assist Mandarin-speaking clients across all stages of their matter, ensuring they receive clear, accurate information in their preferred language
  • Coordinate client communication through WhatsApp and other channels in line with our client service structure
  • Maintain accurate records in our case management systems
  • Assist with scheduling, billing, and general administrative functions as required

Requirements

  • Diploma in Law, Paralegal Studies, or a related discipline; a degree in Law or a related field is an advantage
  • Candidates who are pursuing or have completed the Singapore Institute of Legal Education (SILE) courses are welcome to apply
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of paralegal or legal secretarial experience in a Singapore law firm, preferably with exposure to family law, litigation, or estate matters
  • Fresh graduates with relevant internship experience or strong academic backgrounds will also be considered
  • Skills and Attributes
  • Strong command of written and spoken English; proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is a significant advantage given the firm's Mandarin-speaking client base, and proficiency in Malay is equally valued given the nature of our Syariah law practice
  • Familiarity with Singapore court procedures, legal documentation, and filing requirements
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously without compromising quality
  • Professional, client-focused demeanour with a genuine commitment to service
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with legal practice management software is an advantage
  • Why Join I.R.B Law LLP
  • A firm that genuinely cares.
  • We are known for going beyond the matter itself - supporting clients through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. That same ethos extends to how we look after our team.
  • Breadth of work.
