About the role

Do you love logic, dream in spreadsheets, and consider mental math to be a fun party trick? Are you passionate about joining a company that is making the world a better place? Let's talk! We're looking for a Senior Analyst / Associate to sit at the intersection of finance, accounting, operations, and commercial strategy. This cross-functional role sits on the Finance team and provides an entry point into any & all data that makes our business tick. You'll start with financial & operational data and expand into sales & marketing data. Within a few months, we'll want you to develop a full mental map of how the data flows across and between our systems, building expertise on which data is needed to answer which questions. You'll eventually provide input into how to improve our systems to improve data quality. In early weeks, you will start with a monthly review of our financial statements, including variance analysis and working with our accountants to resolve any questions. You'll start to understand the data flows between our operational systems and accounting systems, and perform ad hoc comparisons across systems as-needed. Soon after, you'll start to analyze our customers and sales leads and understand the relative sales performance of different channels. You will also support department leads in ROI analyses for potential projects. Your past experience ideally includes financial analysis and accounting, so that you are well-prepared to communicate with our accountants and provide financial analyses for an executive audience. We will also consider highly numerate technically-trained individuals who have a serious interest in financial and business analysis. Ideally you have dabbled in using AI and come prepared to use it as a tool to make your already-quick brain even more effective. In your application, please highlight any part of your background (job responsibilities, degrees, grades, test scores) that persuasively describes your training for the role. To apply, please include a resume and cover letter. We value a diverse workplace, and are assembling our team to match these values at this early stage. We especially welcome different backgrounds, experiences, abilities, and perspectives, and strongly encourage people of all ethnic backgrounds and genders to apply. This is a full-time position and it is expected to be in-office 4 days per week with 1 day flexible for in-office or remote work. Our office is located in Berkeley, CA.
